It's Keiko again!
So...I tried color pencils (prismacolors) and failed horribly. I think she looked a lot better when she was in black and white :/ I'm not sure how to do light colors with these pencils so her eyes are kinda flat. Also, the colors are either really light or really bright >< If anyone has tips, please do help me out here because I'm really lost.. Tip 1: Keep the whites of her eyes >< Tip 2: Learn how to shade skin since it's...flat there Tip 3: Coloring hair by individual strand at the moment leads to weird lighting. [link] She looked more alive and more fun in this one :/ |

Here's a very helpful tip that I use for my stuff, for when I use Prismacolors: overlapping colors is very key. Don't grind into the paper at first. Apply each layer lightly. Also, when shading, use complements. I'm not sure if you know the color complements, so here they are basically: red and green, blue and orange, yellow, and purple. When mixed properly, these complements tend to create a brownish shade, which tends to be more natural than say...using black, or a LOT of one color (i.e., if a shirt is yellow, one may use heavy yellow to show darker areas...). Now don't make all shading look brown, but try different methods of applying layers of complements, and you'll see the difference after a while.
Another tip: make dark areas very dark, and light areas very light, to bring out more drastic shading.
Anyways.... </rant>
Hair is magical; I can see some shading on the shirt, well done. And yes, keep whites of eyes. LOLOLOLOL.
No problems!!!
You should try!!! Sewing isn't too hard, unless you stab yourself to death with the needle. lol
